Below is a quick, little comment I made on a buddy’s Facebook post got a little love from an individual who I’ve long been a fan of as both a performer and an individual for a long time now. I didn’t expect it to be noticed at all. And I’m still learning to deal with this weird reality that I’m only a few degrees of separation away from something I always wanted to be a part of. Because if something I posted off-hand can get the attention of someone like them, it gives me hope that maybe I do have something in me–a poem, a story, a script, a joke, a performance, something, anything–that can genuinely earn and provide the comforts of even moderate success to those I care about.
So, here’s to hopin’.

“Speaking with your wallet is the easiest, most direct way for Americans to have their voices heard. Go for the burgers and everything else. It’s literally the only real power anyone has in a country where politics is a pay-to-win game. If you don’t like it, don’t support it. Tossing away your morals and ethics for the sake of burgers and chicken sandwiches is absurd. Wholly American, yes. But absurd.”
